Tea and Sympathy
By Robert Anderson
A Dangerous Love
Trembling with a delicate understanding of secret emotions, this moving drama lays bare the heart of a boy whose life would have been ruined without the sympathy and daring of a lovely older woman.
Tom Lee was the neglected son of divorced parents, a sensitive boy fonder of music and reading than athletics, and not readily acceptable to the healthy young males who attended his New England prep school. When Tom was seen, swimming naked, with an English professor, ugly rumors raced like wildfire through the small community. But Tom was innocent. The beautiful wife of Tom's housemaster knew it and decided to rescue .him from the scandal that threatened him.
This is essentially the touching story of two lonely people—of a married woman who was determined to save a boy from disgrace even though it might mean the end of her marriage—and of a boy who desperately needed a woman's all-out love to prove he was a man.
